The Fred Day Cup is the annual county individual tournament for members (either by individual membership or membership of a participating club) of the Buckinghamshire County Chess Association. Fred was a stalwart of Buckinghamshire chess performing many roles, not least as a former controller of the Bucks Individual Championship.
This is an all-play-all standard play competition starting in December and, as usual, entries will be divided between sections of at least six and typically not more than ten players. All games will be graded by the ECF.
Entries are now invited for the 2025-2026 season.
The rules are available at FDC_rules. This season sees a more rigorous approach to the completion of rounds. Those changes are highlighted by bold text within the rules.
There is no complicated entry form and I have no wish to collect unnecessary personal data. Just send the following details to bccawebmaster @ gmail.com
- Your name
- ECF grading reference (else FIDE id). If you have neither, just advise me of your club name
- Contact details (email address or phone number)
The entry fee will be £10. Entrants should be members of the English Chess Federation otherwise you may have to “pay to play”. Payment can be made on-line.
