2004 End of Year Update

Maintained by

You obviously didn't miss me for the match at home to Hants. Thanks to all of you who turned out & well played for handing out a decent hiding by 12-6 on an average grading difference of just 3 points. Special thanks to Chris Stothert for running the afternoon & Fred Day who was never quite sure whether he'd get a game (& didn't).

I've spent a couple of evenings sorting out my magic spreadsheet (actually invented by my predecessor Syringa), but the following stats comprise what we've come to know as our "Hall of Fame". You always need to have played a minimum of half the matches, so that's at least 2 of the 3 so far.

First of all, top scorers after 3 matches:

Steve James 3 (wow!), Phil Bonafont & Ian Hall 2.5.

Top score %

4 on 100% - Steve James (3/3), Phil Makepeace, Gulshan Joshi & (surely not?) Nick Butland (all 2/2).

Unbeaten

All the above, plus Colin Walker (+1=2), Roger de Coverly, Andy Lewis & Chris Stothert (all =2).

Top grading overall

Steve James 211, Phil Bonafont 208, Phil Makepeace 202.

And the best grading improvements

Phil Makepeace +48, Nick Butland +47, Steve James +46.

Next dates

Oxon (H)19th February
Hants (A)5th March

Sorry there's such a long wait; Berks called off the January fixture owing to unavailability of their premises & we can't host it either, so add Berks(A) tba. We actually have a chance in this league if we can get our strongest team out against Oxfordshire - please ring-fence this date in your 2005 diaries!!

All the best for Christmas & the New Year,

Nick Butland
